OvulatoryThe IVF
FETcycle takes approximately 10 days from start to finish. If ovulation occurs normally, the protocol is very simple. This is a step by step example of a general protocol:
Day 1
Day 2 to Day 8
Day 8 to color change (ovulation) - Test twice a day (10:00am – 12:00pm) and (6:00pm – 7:00pm) to detect a color change (ovulation). Once ovulation occurs, schedule a doctor appointment to check if your uterine lining is greater than 9mm and if your estrogen level is greater than 180. By this time you should have one or more mature follicles. Then your doctor will prescribe the HCG injection (given at night). The embryo transferis done 7 days after the color change.
During the FET cycle, there are very few doctor visits and less stress. The blood test is 9 days after the transfer.
Non-ovulatory (sometimes called “Replacement Cycle”)
The IVF FET cycle takes approximately one month from start to finish. Under this protocol, ovulation does not take place; therefore, the menstrual cycle has to be control such as in the fresh cycle. It requires more time and medication.
